Identified Athletes

Athletes will be offered a position on a team personally at tryouts or be contacted via email and/or phone within 48-72 hours. At this point, coaches will email athletes and parents using Team Snap to provide specific information about training schedules, payment, registration night etc.  Team lists will also be posted on the Ducks homepage as soon as teams are finalized.

We ask that you do not contact us until 72 hours after the last tryout has passed. We understand this may be difficult, however we do our best to expedite the process to the best of our ability.

Delays in confirming teams are a result of having to wait for athletes commitment and signing dates, there is often movement with athlete placement and it allows the selection committee some flexibility when selecting athletes.

Registration Fees

What Do Registration Fees Cover?

  • A ticket to our year end Ducks banquet
  • Official individual and team photo
  • Club wide access to Team Snap 
  • Athlete insurance
  • Volleyball BC and Volleyball Canada registration
  • Gym rental / 2 practices a week
  • Coaching certification and training
  • Coaching honorariums
  • Gear: Socks, 1 Warm up tshirt, jogging pants, sweatshirt, 2 jerseys (junior ducks will have 1 jersey)
  • Tournaments:
    • Girls: Qualifiers and Provincial Championships, 4-5 local and/or Volleyball BC tournaments
      • Junior Ducks will have 2-3 local and/or Volleyball BC tournaments
    • Boys: Qualifiers and Provincial Championships, 4-5 local and/or Volleyball BC tournaments

In addition Elite teams will receive:

  • Entry fee for 1-2 high profile tournaments and/or Power League entry (boys teams when applicable and/or available). *15U-18U Elite teams will attend Matt Hartner Tournament
  • Entrance fee for National Championships
  • 3 practices a week
  • Increased access to our Technical Director
  • Access to recruiting support staff

Payment

How Do I Pay?

The costs and payment options for all Ducks teams are provided below. 

  • Option 1 – Pay the complete registration fee with your Visa/Mastercard. You will be sent a link with online payment options after teams have been selected. You have the option to pay the entire fee by Visa/Mastercard  The option to pay by Visa/Mastercard will be turned off on Saturday December 14th at 5:00 pm, after this, payment must be done by cheque at registration night.
    • Families choosing pay the registration fee will be charged an additional 2.99% and 0.99$ per transaction.  
  • Option 2 – Pay by cheque at the registration night. All payments are expected at registration night.
    • Non-Elite teams can pay the full amount or in 2 instalments with cheques dated Dec 15, 2019 and Jan 15, 2020
    • Elite teams can pay the full amount or in 3 instalments dated Dec 15, 2019, Jan 15, 2020 and Jan 30th, 2020

Financial Aid

Our goal is to provide athletes and coaches with a positive learning experience, both in and out of sport, which promotes the development of life skills, leadership, teamwork, self-discipline, responsibility and respect, that will allow them to contribute positively to their communities.  To provide all athletes with the opportunity to participate in sport, the Ducks Volleyball Club offers grant support to subsidize the cost of playing for athletes and families who face financial barriers. To help manage the increased demand for support and ensure fair distribution of funding, the following screening criteria will be applied:

  • As resources allow, first time applicants will receive priority for grant funding
  • Applicants currently on file will be processed as funding permits
  • Unsuccessful applicants will be notified as soon as possible, incomplete applications will be returned

Guidelines for Application

  • Athletes 18 and under are eligible to apply for the grant and must be members of the Ducks Volleyball Club in good standing
  • Athletes must apply for the KidSport grant 
  • Athletes must apply for Canadian Tire Jumpstart grant 
  • Ducks grants of a maximum $350 must be used to pay for registration fees, and/or subsidize the cost of attending National Championships. All funds will be applied directly to these expenses.
  • Camps, regular tournament travel, equipment, etc. are not eligible expenses
  • Applications must be received at the beginning of the current season by January 31st, applicants can only apply once per season. 
  • Athletes must have a Financial Verification Reference
    • The Reference is the most important step in the application process. This individual verifies that without Ducks Volleyball Club assistance, the child would not be able to participate in the season of sport. The Reference acts as an objective third party who is familiar with the athlete’s family and is in a professional position to assess the social and economic barriers facing the family. References cannot be associated with the sport organization and they cannot be a family member.

Registration Night / Team Snap

All families and athletes are expected to attend registration night during your allotted time to try on gear and pay registration fees. This night is mandatory. In unique situations where attendance is not possible, athletes must contact info@ducksvolleyball.ca 

*All female athletes must wear a sports bra and spandex in order to try on gear / changing room space may be limited

*All athletes must be wearing comfortable clothing to change in and out of gear effectively and quickly

Team Snap

Our club uses Team Snap for club wide communication. Please ensure that you are familiar with the program. In order for the Ducks to communicate with you effectively, please make sure all of your information has been accurately entered and that you have checked the Receive Emails and Team Alerts Sent VIA SMS. Please select the privacy level you are comfortable with.

Team Photography

The Ducks are very excited to partner with Photo Expressions to provide professional photography for our Club.  All athletes will receive an individual and team picture this season as part of their registration. Please review the following information: 

  • All athletes and coaches are expected to attend their designated photography time.
  • All athletes, managers and coaches are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to your designated times. Managers are expected to help organize and coordinate the team.
  • All athletes must be dressed in their full Ducks volleyball uniform, spandex/shorts, socks and jersey (no kneepads).
  • All coaches must be dress in the most recent Ducks volleyball apparel provided.

The Ducks will have access to these pictures for use within the club.
